…… 這就是泰戈?duì)枺@就是《飛鳥(niǎo)集》。或許，對(duì)于人類的文明史來(lái)講，《飛鳥(niǎo)集》不過(guò)是滄海一粟而已；然而，我卻只想說(shuō)，它是一種別具一格的清新，在如今繁忙擁擠的都市里，用它蘊(yùn)涵的廣闊無(wú)邊的自然荒野，為我們開(kāi)創(chuàng)另一個(gè)天堂。

泰戈?duì)柹倌陼r(shí)代即開(kāi)始文學(xué)創(chuàng)作，在半個(gè)多世紀(jì)的創(chuàng)作生涯中，他涉足詩(shī)歌、小說(shuō)、戲劇等領(lǐng)域，且均獲得杰出成就；其中，最能體現(xiàn)他的風(fēng)格特征的，是他的詩(shī)。在印度，在世界許多國(guó)家，泰戈?duì)柖急蛔馂椤霸?shī)圣”。

人們應(yīng)該脫下圣袍，到泥土里去迎接神，“在勞動(dòng)里，流汗里/和他站在一起罷。” 泰戈?duì)栒J(rèn)為，作為一個(gè)詩(shī)人，如果只是搬弄華麗詞藻或炫耀文字技巧，同樣是無(wú)法通向神的。

那些浮華的裝飾將成為阻障。他崇尚純真和簡(jiǎn)樸，企望自己的生命“簡(jiǎn)單正直像一枝葦?shù)选保屔瘛皝?lái)吹出音樂(lè)”，從而達(dá)到人梵神合一的境界。
